Specifying a subject and a body of the message in e-mail link

Very simple solution, which is very useful and saves your website visitors time when writing you a letter.

<a href="mailto:email@gmail.com?subject=Hello Web master&body=Howdy master">email@gmail.com</a>

Result — email@gmail.com

If you want to add another line in body, add another &body=text in the end!

Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0.3 mail synchronization bugs

After installing new version of Mozilla Thunderbird, many of you noticed that it really slows your pc downloading all the messages (especially if you have thousands of them). I found a solution that suits me the best.

Go to Tools → Account Settings → Synchronization & Storage. If you want to save all your mail on your mail server — the best solution would be to choose to save only the latest messages on hard drive.

Boosting Windows 7 performance in one-two-three

The first and the most important thing to do:

  • Disable system protection on all drives, and after that i advise you to backup manually.
    — Win+pause break (right click My Computer → properties) → Advanced System Settings → System Protection then turn off System protection on all drives (it will boost your Windows 7 experience dramatically
  • Disable unnecessary services.
    — Type in Run → services.msc, read the descriptions and disable services that you won't be using for 100%.
    Some of my personal disabled services are:
    • Fax;
    • Telephony;
    • Offline Files;
    • Security Center;
    • Windows Search;
    • Windows Backup;
    • Table PC Input Service;
    • Windows Media Center services;
    • Windows Error Reporting Service;
    • Windows Update (after installing all updates at a time);

Removing Skype 4.2 from taskbar in Windows 7

Many of you are dissapointed with the new version of Skype 4.2.0.155 and Skype 4.2.0.158 also, it has new feature which really slows the work, but most annoying is the fact that you can't remove Skype from a taskbar when it is minimized to system tray. This is the solution i have found recently:

  • quit Skype,
  • right click on Skype icon on your desktop and click properties,
  • in the Compatibility tab check and choose Windows XP (Service Pack 3),
  • Click OK, and start Skype.

Another option is to rollback to Skype 4.1.0.179, which is my personal choice, because 4.2 is a real bug.
